Now is a good of a time as any to share with you my latest project: VAGUE AND FAMILIAR. It's not something I talk about super often, but one of the greatest joys in my life is my music collection. I consider myself a DJ and a Producer, but probably a Collector above all. I cant even imagine how many hours, or even years I have spent digging deep into the internet to drop into other times and cultures. I am super interested in music from other countries, and this fascination fuels much of my creativity. The other part of my brain is highly interested in nostalgia. So if I have heard a song that I remember from childhood, it fascinates me. Thus I came up with the concept of "Vague and Familiar". Music takes me both into to new worlds, while simultaneously helping me dive back in time into my own world. This time around I found myself honing in on Algeria, Egypt, Italy, France, Germany, The US, England, Oman, China and India. One remix features Will Thoren on the didgeridoo. I hope you find this combination of frequencies intriguing, and I hope it provides a moment of joy during this confusing time in reality. Please stay safe, and follow your heart and your mind during these intense times.

Experimentation is nothing new to SOOHAN, and yet, the borders to his musical journey seemingly have no boundary.

Touching down with his sixth full-length project, SOO SOO STUDIO, Soohan further erases walls between genre and blurs lines between original compositions and sampled material, all while diving into new musical territory. Sounds from classic American pop music, house, Baltimore club, and drum and bass blend with Soohan's distinct affinity for regional folk and dance music styles from around the world - a rededication to his mission of drawing the path from foreign to familiar.

At 14 tracks and just over an hour in running time, SOO SOO STUDIO marks Soohan's most diversely-sourced work to date. Unfolding as a journey through an array of seemingly incongruous influences, the sounds come together with effortless style, leading the listener through a meandering rush of sounds, culminating in a euphoric finish. A must-hear experience for fans of polyrhythmic dance, club music, and rhythms from beyond the western world. - Josh Messer (The Subvert Agency)

Fresh off a year of extensive coast-to-coast touring, SOOHAN returns with COLLECTIVE EFFERVESCENCE, a new album of found and remixed material that showcases his most receptive tracks from the year prior. Collective Effervescence is named for the sociological concept coined by Èmile Durkheim, which generally states that when people come together as communities, they retain the ability to act as one.

Such is the truth of how your bodies all over North America responded to this visceral selection of Soohan's newest remixes and edits, often meant directly for festival crowds. Worldly rhythms abound as Soohan introduces you to the likes of Adèle & Zalem, A-WA, Sukhwinder Singh & Vijay Prakash, and Ana Tijoux through 808-tinged lenses. Interspersed are moments of re-interpreted pop genius. A supercut of Missy Elliot's hardest lines runs atop a selection of Timbaland's best cuts, while elsewhere, Weezer meets Passion Pit and bass-heavy beat patterns.

Equal parts a must-have for the day-ones and the perfect entry port into Soohan's world of remixed art from around the world, a continued journey of musical discovery.

I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THIS ALBUM DIRECTLY. BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO SOOHAN. PLEASE SEND DONATIONS TO SOOHANSOOHAN@GMAIL.COM on PayPal.

Back with his fourth full-length album, SOOHAN makes a tremendous statement with ARCHETAPES. Returning to his tried and true abilities for remixing world music in a way of spreading its influence to shores beyond, Soohan tackles tracks largely from yesteryear in Archetapes, shining new light on older musical selections. Trap and heavy bass influences find a surprising niche in a diverse array of musical stylings without disrupting their original flow, a triumph of sample-based work in an age where the art form is less and less common. Soohan also links with the likes of HÄANA and Jackson Whalan, in addition to remixing David Starfire, providing tastes of the present and future that blend timelessly with the past. A must-hear work for fans of instrumental hip-hop, all electronic music, and sample-based music.

Garnering streams in the hundreds of thousands and a slew of festival appearances over the last few years, SOOHAN has quickly established himself as a foremost presence in global bass + electronic music scenes. His style is a signature blend of outlandish trap-influenced production, dashed against the backdrop of regional folk music selections that span the entire globe.

With an approach that invites exploration into the musical stylings it remixes, Soohan does his part to bring sample-based music into 2017 with Archetapes, his fourth full-length album. Stay on the lookout for more North American tour dates in 2017, announcing very soon.
